ABOUT THE PROJECT                                             

The dialogue-exhibition between the artists Janaina Tschäpe & Ursula Reuter Christiansen is structured around the Freudian term Das Unheimliche. The uncanny is the homely, which has been estranged, it is the familiar, disguised as something foreign. This dynamic between the familiar and the strange, of attraction and horror is the reference point throughout this exhibition, consisting of both new and old works. The exhibition explores the artistic relationship between the two artists. A relation which at first is not obvious, but progressively opens for new perspectives on both artistic practices. Both artists have referenced each other and points out this relation, which is centred around artistic method, starting point of production and approach to the artistic process.
